Dr. Gideon Boako, spokesperson for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says, "if NDC of all parties had a peaceful election" it was because of the passing of the vigilante law.
The recently held primaries of the opposition National Democratic Congress can be described as generally peaceful.
In all 524 candidates contested the internal polls in 157 constituencies out of 275. 39 Members of Parliament went unopposed.
Meanwhile, a total of nine incumbent MPs lost their bids to contest the 2020 Parliamentary Election.
Reacting to this during Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Dr Boako said, "one thing we are taking for granted is the relative peace experienced during the NDC's primaries. It is true we had few incidents of violence but generally, typical of the NDC where their primaries are marred by violence and so on; it reduced this time around. We should ask ourselves why NDC of all parties had this peace during their primaries . . . part of what led to this is the vigilante law and that shows leadership on the part of President Akufo-Addo.
