Former President John Dramani Mahama has been asked to refrain from contesting in the 2020 presidential election because he has fallen out of favour with God.
Some of his utterances and policy decisions during his time in power have been professed to have fallen out of line with God’s plan for humanity, thereby courting the maker’s wrath upon him.
According to a renowned leader in the Church of Pentecost, Elder Justice Antwi Boasiako, there is no way the former president or his NDC party would win power in the 2020 elections, asking him to forget about contesting.
Briefing the media on what he said was a vision from God, he said ‘I have been compelled by God to make this known to the whole country that, no amount of campaigning would help Mr Mahama or the NDC to win the 2020 elections because they despised the way of the Lord when they had the opportunity’.
The founder of the Victory Life Prayer Revival Center further revealed: “God immediately denounced Mr Mahama the very moment he described himself as a ‘dead goat’ and would not heed to the cries and agitations on the labour front”.
The preacher also cited the net freeze on employment in the tenure of the NDC as the second reason God has barred him from the presidency and that he could go every length to campaign for the seat but would fail.
To the ruling NPP, Elder Justice Antwi Boasiako said the same fate would befall it if it disregards the concerns of the masses and refuses to provide gainful employment for them.
How can you lead people and tell them ‘yentie obiaa’ and also freeze their opportunities to get employed, he quizzed.
He also blamed the abysmal showing of the NDC in the 2016 elections on the utterances and leadership style of President Mahama, asking the leadership not to fetch far for the reasons they lost power.
Referencing to his experiences during prayer and basing his revelation on 1 Samuel 30:1-8, he admonished Mr Mahama to seek the ways of the Lord and forget about coming back to the presidency.
Former President John Mahama has given indications he would not disappoint loyalists of his party who are calling on him to contest for the flagbearership of the NDC and subsequently the national poll.
He would, however, have to face stiff opposition from some of his former appointees for the internal showdown on a yet to be announced date.
Former NHIA boss, Sylvester Mensah, former VC of the UPSA, Prof. Joshua Alabi, Former Health Minister and current 2nd Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon Alban Bagbin and former Trades and Industry Minister, Ekow Spio Garbrah are some of Mr Mahama’s former lieutenants who have declared their interest for the post their former boss seeks.
