A member of the Hearts of Oak side that won the African Champions League in 2000, defender Dan Quaye made his national team debut against Sierra Leone in a qualifier for the 2002 FIFA World Cup™.
That was his solitary cap for three years until 2004, when he played in the qualifiers for Germany 2006.
Quaye again lost his place in the squad when Ratomir Dujkovic arrived as coach, but he has regained it in recent months thanks to his performances at club level.
- March 2008: Former Black Stars’ defender Dan Quaye has returned to China to continue his football career after his fall out with Hearts’ coach Eyal Lachman.
The 27-year-old has been told he has no future at Hearts under Lachman and has wasted no time in looking elsewhere to play his football. Quaye has re-joined Chinese Second Division side Chongqing Lifan from whom he signed up for Hearts of Oak at the end of last year. Quaye had re-joined Hearts in the hope of forcing his way into the Black Stars again, but his inconsistent displays and decision to question Eyal Lachman’s tactics, as well training methods, forced Hearts into doing a deal.
