Left back who made his international debut at 18 and was expected to enjoy a stellar career in Europe after Danish club Randers sold him to Portuguese giants FC Porto in 2010. However he failed to break through, going out on loan before moving to Guimaraes in 2012. Helped them to an upset win over Benfica in last year’s Portuguese Cup final. A world champion at Under-20 level with Ghana in 2009.

In July 2008, Batty joined SAS Ligaen (Danish league), club Randers FC. He joined his current club from Ghanaian based club All Stars F.C.. He was at All Stars F.C. for just under 3 years, 2005–2008 formerly played for S.C. Adelaide and Inter Allies FC. In addition, he was named young player of the year 2008 in Ghana
On 1 February 2010 the Ghanaian U-20 champion joined Portuguese top club FC Porto from SAS Ligaen side Randers FC for €800,000, signing a three ½ year contract. He was then loaned to Académica Coimbra
His preferred position is left back, however he is quite attack-minded and so can also play left midfield and be pretty reliable. So in a nutshell, he is a reasonably versatile player. Addy is known to be a defender, as hard as a rock. Also he is said to be a great tackler of the ball and he can head the ball very well. He is also known for his ability to strike the ball with power.

April 2017 Defender David Addy has joined Finnish side RoPS on a short-term deal.
The left-back is available on a free transfer after ending his contract with Indian side Delhi Dynamos.
