Interior Minister Ambrose Dery has reiterated government’s commitment to ensuring that all Ghanaians enjoy quality education as a means to developing the human resource base of the country.
Mr Dery who is in the Upper West Region to monitor the implementation of the Free SHS policy was speaking at Wa Senior High School (SHS) where he kick-started the monitoring of the schools.
In this regard, he disclosed that for the first time in the Northern scholarship programme, grants have been released to Northern schools.
Welcoming the Interior Minister to the school, the acting headmaster of Wa SHS Salifu Ishmael disclosed that the school has given 461 admission letters to place students but only 231 have reported so far.
He, however, indicated that the school is faced with a challenge of feeding the students.
The Interior Minister is visiting three schools in the region namely Wa, Lawra and Nandom SHSs.
