Yaw Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh, a former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu/Juaben in the Ashanti Region, has expressed his support for the double track Free Senior High School (SHS) system.
According to a report by MyNewsGH, he called on his party members to embrace the new initiative by the current government.
Speaking on Abusua FM, he explained that it is important the National Democratic Congress (NDC) offers solutions to perfect the system rather than wish for its total failure.
“I am urging NDC to embrace it and offer solutions to perfect the system since we will be coming to power in 2020. The party should put the government on its toes in order not to derail completely the gains of Mahama”, he explained.
He also took the opportunity to call on technocrats to also be more proactive in the national discourse.
The government is set to introduce the shift system at the SHS level next academic year which starts in September.
It will also reduce the number of terms to what is called two-semester systems.
The shift system, where two batches of students attend school at different times, has largely been eliminated from all school levels in Ghana.
