Ghana has been thrown into a state of insecurity following the incessant robbery attacks and raids that have occurred in recent times. A number of lives have been lost and several other properties stolen by armed men in different instances in various parts of the country particularly in the capital, Accra within a matter of two weeks.
While assurances keep pouring in from the Ministers in charge of security and the police service, it appears Ghanaians are unsatisfied and are demanding much more. As part of efforts to intensify security, leadership of the police service made some changes at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Plans are underway also per information from the camp of Information Minister, Mustapha Hamid to purchase helicopters for the police service for monitoring purposes.
Are these measures practical enough as far as dealing with the roots of these robberies and guaranteeing the safety of Ghanaians is concerned?
The back and forth about the writing of entrance exams by Law Students has finally been resolved as parliament approves the Legal Profession Regulations Bill amidst protests from the Minority. Law students as a result of this will be required to take an entrance exam prior to their admission into the school.
