Environmental journalist Erastus Asare Donkor, from Multimedia Group, has called for justice after he and his team were assaulted by armed men while investigating illegal mining activities at Asumenya in the Ashanti Region.
The attackers, allegedly linked to Edelmetallum Mining Resources, confiscated valuable equipment, including drones and tablets, and injured the journalists before abandoning them in a forest.
Donkor urged authorities on Joy FM to retrieve their equipment, which was purchased personally, and ensure accountability.
Despite the ordeal, he affirmed his team’s dedication to exposing environmental issues.
The police are currently investigating, with three suspects in custody.
