INTRODUCTION: The original trophy, the Abdelaziz Mostafa Cup, was awarded permanently to Al Ahly after their third consecutive win in 1986. The new trophy is named after Nelson Mandela. The African Cup Winners Cup (aka The Mandela Cup) is a knock out, two leg tie competition, for the winners of the foremost cup competition in each CAF affiliated nation.
