Kwabena Agyepong, a senior advisor to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has accused the opposition NDC of using illegal mining ("galamsey") as a political tool to divert attention from their lack of a campaign message ahead of the December 2024 elections.
Speaking on Channel One TV, Agyepong claimed the NDC is amplifying the issue to discredit the Akufo-Addo administration. He emphasized that the NPP has made efforts to address galamsey and criticized the NDC for failing to tackle it during their time in office.
The government has recently announced plans to revoke L.I. 2462 and declare mining zones as "Red Zones."
